I switched from Verizon DSL to Charter Cable Internet. I wanted to try whether I like Charter internet service before buying expensive equipment (SurfBoard Extreme 3.0 Gateway), so went with this modem becasue it was the lowest cost option (I also bought is in a "used like new" condition from Amazion Warehouse). I connected a cheap Netgear wireless router to get WiFi.
It's been three days since the installation, and I am very impressed with the speed and the preformance of my new set up. Web pages load very quickly and Youtube videos play immedialtely without any buffering. I ran a test on one of the speed test websites and the download speed showed as 20Mbps. I may not even upgrade to a more expensive equipment, since I do not have a reason to spend more. In addition, Charter wanted to charge me ten bucks a month for the lease of their modem, and I spent a total of fifty bucks for the equipment. If the modem and the router last, it was worth it to buy the equipment rather than lease it from Charter.

This cable modem is lightweight and super easy to set up. The vertical shape makes it easy to tuck it away from sight without taking up a lot of room. Excellent choice for the price!
