I've been drawing on-and-off for a few years, and had a hand-me-down Wacom tablet in the past, which I used for some digital colouring (I purchased the Bamboo tablet, when that earlier model konked).

Wow, totally impressed with the Bamboo! I started using it right after I installed it (no problems). Very lightweight, very slick, doesn't take up a lot of space/compact, easy to carry around, USB cable (very convenient / my old one was the printer-type of port)...and it's very good to look at also.

Apart from style, it functions just fine -- I think my older tablet was a bit more sensitive, but that can be changed via the tablet settings. I still use a mouse for general surfing and non-artistic work, but find the Bamboo suitable for simple coloring purposes (I usually do the linework by pen or pencil, then color digitally). For the seasoned professional, a heavier-duty Wacom tablet would probably be better, but the Bamboo was just what I was looking for at the moment (something economically-priced, that works, and is reliable).

I own an EMachine desktop computer with a 19" LCD monitor, and I work primarily with Photoshop 7. Any problem I have with my tablet is due to either myself or my desk, and has precious little to do with my tablet or my computer. I bought my tablet used through Amazon and it is a glorious little thing that does exactly what I need it to do. It doesn't have any lights anymore, though, but who needs them. I only wish it was wireless.
